Man Who Threaten to Spread Private Video of Woman He Met on Social Media
A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to spread a private video of a 22-year-old woman he met online.
According to police, the 36-year-old suspect and a woman first met through an online platform. After getting to know each other, they agreed to meet and checked into a motel on July 18, 2026. During their meeting, they reportedly became intimate.
After the encounter, the woman noticed that the man had deleted their online conversations. Because of this, she decided to end their communication and move on.
On July 27, 2026, the woman was surprised to receive another message from the suspect.
Police said the man allegedly claimed to have a sensitive video from their previous meeting and used it to pressure the woman into seeing him again. He reportedly insisted that they meet and have another intimate encounter.
The woman sought help from authorities after feeling threatened by the messages. Police immediately conducted an investigation and organized an entrapment operation at a restaurant in the Talipapa area of Quezon City.
The operation led to the arrest of the suspect. Authorities also recovered two mobile phones from him, which are now being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect denied the allegations against him. He maintained that there was no private video and insisted that he had not harmed anyone or committed any wrongdoing.
Despite his denial, authorities filed charges against him. These include Grave Coercion in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act and violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
Police also reminded the public to be extra careful when meeting people online. They encouraged individuals to take time to know a person well before agreeing to meet in private places and to prioritize their safety at all times.
“Wag basta-basta makikipagkita sa mga taong nakikilala thru online, kilalanin mabuti at wag agad magpapasya na sumama agad kahit saan,” PCpt. Olmedillo said.
