Quarantine Extension In Manila To Be Decided Monday – Roque

Quarantine Extension In Metro Manila Being Studied Says Roque

QUARANTINE EXTENSION IN MANILA – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the decision of another quarantine extension may be decided on Monday.

High risk areas for COVID-19 may have their quarantine extended further beyond May 15. However, Roque said the government is still continues to study the implications of “more relaxed” protocols in some cities.

According to Roque, the capacity of a city’s local government units to provide critical medical care will be considered, especially in Metro Manila, considered as the COVID-19 hotspot in the country.

Furthermore, according to an article from ABS-CBN, the COVID-19 task force would hold a meeting on Monday to discuss the lockdown extensions. Afterward, they are to submit their recommendations for an extension or downgrade to cities.

Dor now, Roque stated the government is aiming for a “granular and surgical” shift towards a general community quarantine in the Metro. He added that not all areas in the capital may be extended.

Meanwhile, the areas still under lockdown for 5 more days are the following:

  • Region 3 except Aurora Province
  • Calabarzon
  • Benguet Province
  • Pangasinan Province
  • Iloilo Province
  • Cebu Province
  • Bacolod City
  • Davao City
  • Albay
  • Zamboanga City

With this, the Metro Manila Council composed by all Metro Manila Mayors are to meet this Saturday afternoon to discuss the future of the lockdown in the Metro.
