Nadine Lustre shared that the court has released a decision about the case she filed against a basher
Award-winning actress Nadine Lustre filed a harassment case against a basher, and the court released a decision favoring her.
Nadine is one of the most-followed celebrities on social media. Like many showbiz personalities, the actress has her fair share of bashers and critics. At times, she would directly slam those who were bashing her.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Nadine recalled what pushed her to file a complaint. There was a netizen who had a “trigger warning” comment on her.
“May nag-comment kasi sa Instagram ko na I would say leading towards online s*xual harrassment na siya,” she said. At first, she just let it pass, but other netizens were triggered by it, and she was told it was not okay.
That netizen added a new comment. “Parang may nag-reply sa kanya and then, nag-reply pa siya nang mas grabe pa dun sa sinabi niya, and I don’t wanna say it na. I think naman it’s available online for you to see, just because it’s very triggering,” Nadine shared.
She also shared that her legal counsel advised her to file a complaint. “Yung case namin was only closed like recently lang. We filed a case,” the actress shared.
Nadine Lustre wanted to remind everyone that even though they would hide behind aliases or dummy accounts, it is still not right to speak negative things about other people. The actress also wanted social media to be a safe place.
Nadine shared how her legal team was able to locate the basher. She said that the netizen was actually using a real account. There was a photo, and they were able to identify that basher, and they served legal documents.
“And then eventually, I think around April before flying to Siargao, that’s the time I actually met the person,” she said.
Nadine Lustre confirmed that the case has concluded and the accused has been penalized. In addition, the accused was also ordered to undergo rehabilitation and gender-sensitivity seminars.
The actress also said that the man apologized to her after the incident. However, she stated that the message the case would convey was more important to her than the personal apology.
