COVID-19 Found In Semen, Raises Questions About Transfer Through Intercourse
COVID-19 TRANSMISSION – A new study on COVID-19 revealed that the virus could be found in the semen.
As such, questions were raised if the virus could be transmitted sexually. However, scientists are still studying how the virus moves through the body.
Previously, research revealed that particles of the deadly virus could be found from saliva, blood, urine, and stool samples. Now, the virus was reported to be found in the semen of men with active coronavirus infections.

Moreover, even those who had recovered from the virus were also found with traces of coronavirus in their semen. But, the researchers were still unsure if their findings meant that the virus could be transmitted through intercourse.
Based on the research, about 16% of the men studied had traces of the virus in their semen. According to an article from Business Insider, a team of Chinese researchers took samples from 38 COVID-19 patients.
Of the 38 patients, 6 were found to have the virus in their semen. Moreover, the age of the patients with the virus-positive semen ranged from their 20s to their 50s.
There was no significant difference between negative and positive test results for patients by age, urogenital disease history, days since onset, days since hospitalization, or days since the clinical recovery
The researches stated that they are still unsure whether the virus could spread through intercourse. However, this still remained a possibility. Likewise, further studies were still needed to be done.
The presence of viruses in semen may be more common than currently understood, and traditional non-sexually transmitted viruses should not be assumed to be totally absent in genital secretions,
