Jack Ma to donate more COVID-19 test kits to the Philippines
Senator Manny Pacquiao recently revealed that Chinese business tycoon Jack Ma will donate 50,000 additional COVID-19 test kits to the Philippines after his first donations.
The boxing champ and his family are close to one of the founders of Alibaba Group Holding Limited. Previously, the Chinese billionaire already donated face masks as well as test kits for coronavirus.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Manny and Jack already started their team up in order to provide jobs for Filipinos in late 2019. Apparently, the charitable endeavor of Jack Ma for the Philippines does not stop there.
Based on the report from ABS-CBN News, Sen. Pacquiao said that Pinoys can expect more test kit donations from the Chinese businessman. “Good thing na si Jack Ma magbibigay pa ulit ng mga 50,000 na testing kits. Magbibigay pa siya ulit ng additional,” the lawmaker said.
However, the Senator said that he is yet to be informed regarding the arrival of the donation in Manila.
Meanwhile, Senator Manny Pacquiao is set to file the ‘New Normal’ bill stating the protocols that will be implemented even after the lifting of the enhanced community quarantine.
“Nakakalungkot mang isipin ngunit kailangan talaga nating magkaroon ng panibagong patarakaran sa ating pakikisalamuha kung sakaling mawala na itong ipinapatupad na Enhanced Community Quarantine,” he previously said.
However, as early as now, there were already several people from various sectors who expressed that they disagree on this proposal such as those who don’t have internet access to pre-buy their necessities online.
“Ang ugali, ang tradisyon, ay produkto ‘yan ng daan-daang taon at hindi nababago overnight,” UP Cultural Anthropologist Dr. Nestor Castro when asked about the bill.
