Majority Senators Including Sen. Camille Villar Show Support for Sen. Jinggoy Estrada
CAMILLE VILLAR – The Senator was emotional as she prayed for Senator Jinggoy Estrada amid his voluntary surrender to the authorities.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada voluntarily surrendered to the authorities after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him. No majority senators appeared in the Senate’s Monday session and only the minority senators appeared for the session.

Estrada is faced with graft and plunder charges over his alleged multi-million flood control corruption. The Office of the Ombudsman previously claimed that there was allegedly a systematic delivery of the supposed flood control kickback to the Senator which reached P573 million.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla gave Sen. Jinggoy Estrada two (2) options — to surrender or face arrest. The Senator denied the multi-million graft allegations against him.

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada tagged the charges against him as alleged persecution from the government. During his voluntary surrender, some majority senators including senators Camilla Villar and Mark Villar showed support to him.

Aside from senators Camille Villar and Mark Villar, Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano and senators Rodante Marcoleta and Imee Marcos also accompanied Sen. Jinggoy Estrada when he voluntarily surrendered. The Senate Chief even refused the arrest of Estrada inside the Senate.
Sen. Camille Villar was asked by the press when they were heading for the press conference of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada. Based on the post, the Lady Senator said she’s praying for Sen. Estrada and his family.
“Praying for Senator Jinggoy and his family, and all of us,” Villar said.

During the press conference, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada claimed that the minority allegedly offered him to join them in exchange of the dismissal of the charges against him. According to him, he will not yield against the supposed persecution.
