Previous pandemics such as black plague, Mexico smallpox, and Spanish Flu last for years, how long coronavirus would affect the world?

The coronavirus disease reportedly starts from Wuhan, China in December 2019 and continue to spread in different countries all around the world until this present time. The contagious disease has infected thousands of people worldwide.

The deadly virus has also killed thousands of people and continue to cause fear and panic to the public. A lot of countries are now implementing quarantine measures to prevent the rapid spread of the virus.

Most people are hoping that the coronavirus would disappear so they could go back to their normal life because most places are now under lockdown and quarantine.

A Facebook user named Linda Grace Lagrimas has shared a photo showing how long did the previous pandemics affect the world. The post includes the black plague in Europe, smallpox in Mexico, and Spanish Flu.

  • The Black Death in Europe is known as the most fatal pandemic in human history, which reportedly killed up to 75-200 million people. The plague starts in 1346 and lasts until 1353.
  • The Smallpox arrived in Mexico in 1519 and spread throughout the region in 1520. The disease was totally eradicated in 1521.
  • The Spanish Flu has infected 500 million people and took the lives of around 50 million individuals. The flu lasted from January 1918 until December 1920.

Currently, many people are hoping that the virus would go soon and could go back to their normal life by May 30, 2020. However, scientists and medical experts have not yet formed any cure for the disease.
