PAL Cabin Crew Wears Stylish Protective Suits Designed By Edwin Tan

Pinoy Designer Edwin Tan Designs PAL Cabin Crew’s Protective Suits

PAL CABIN CREW – Pinoy designer Edwin Tan designed the personal protective suit (PPE) for Philippine Airlines (PAL) cabin crews amid the COVID-19 threat.

On March 17, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte implemented the “enhanced community quarantine” to contain the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Travel by air, land, and sea was suspended until April 30.

In a previous article, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte was unsure of lifting the ECQ. The country has the highest number of COVID-19 cases among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

On Friday, April 17, the Philippine Airlines shared some photos of their new stylish personal protective equipment (PPE) on their Facebook Page. Their cabin crew will be wearing a protective gear amid the pandemic.

Based on the caption, Filipino couturier Edwin Tan was the one who designed the PPEs for the PAL employees. The protective suit has the “fit and function” that will allow the flight attendants to perform their duties.

“The detail is a subtle branding for PAL. We didn’t have time to print or embroider so we came up with the idea of mimicking or reworking the ‘flag’ logo of PAL,” said Tan.

Edwin Tan disclosed that they used “non-porous material for the PPEs. A material with substantial weight to give it a better fall than generic PPEs.” The post has garnered 6K reactions, 338 comments, and 990 shares as of this writing.

@Fape Peac Doc: “Keep safe always and God bless PAL IN FLIGHT SERVICE CREW.”

@Justine Floresca: “Hope they upgraded the Pilot’s wardrobes for protection, too.”

@Art Aguilar Bolen: “Its ok as long as your crew should wear new protective gear every flight and dispose of those used in the previous flight.”
