Tito Sotto Prefers Php 5,000 to Php 8,000 Subsidy To Be Given In Cash

The Php 5,000 to Php 8,000 subsidy for the poor families preferred by Tito Sotto to be released in cash.

TITO SOTTO – Philippine Senate President Tito Sotto said that he prefers the Php 5,000 to Php 8,000 subsidy for the poor to be given in cash.

Based on a previous article, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced that the Congress have granted him Php 200-billion which he will used to help the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The social amelioration fund is for the poor families.

He said last March 30, “The government is now launching the largest and widest social protection program in our country’s history to make up for the loss of economic opportunities due to the quarantine measures in place for COVID-19.”

Ranging from Php 5,000.00 to Php 8,000.00, the amount to be given to each household will be based on the minimum wage of each region and this is only effective for two months. This will be released to around 18 million low income families in the country.

With this, according to GMA’s report, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said on Wednesday that it would be better if the subsidy will be given in cash to the people. Through a radio interview, through this way, each families will get a hold of their budget and can decided on what is needed to be bought. And also, he preferred for this in form of cash because it is faster to distribute.

He said, “Saka ipe-prepare mo ‘yung goods, bibilhin mo, babalutin mo, i-distribute mo, eh mas mabilis i-distribute ‘yung cash eh.”

The senate president said that with this, he will talk withExecutive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and the Department of Social Welfare and Development about the plan.
