Here’s the moment when Francisco Martin forgot the lyrics while performing in American Idol.
FRANCISCO MARTIN – Filipino-American contestant Francisco Martin in the season 18 of American Idol forgot the lyrics while performing.
American Idol is on its 18th season already. And among who left a remarkable mark during the auditions is the 18-year-old Pre-Law Filipino-American student Francisco Martin. In a previous article, he caught attention when he was calmed by the judges before he started singing.
The judges of the competition are Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. And as he started singing, he amazed everyone with his voice and musicality and he is now among the favorites of the judges and most fans. He sang Maggie Rogers’ song “Alaska.”
And now, as he went on with the competition, in his latest performance where he sang The Script’s “Breakeven”, he got lost of the moment and forgot a small part of the lyrics. Still, he was able to get through it.
Katy Perry, on her comment, told the young singer, “Francisco, if you make a mistake or if you forget the words, that’s okay. We do it all the time. Just don’t give up and don’t show defeat. You can go backstage and kick a trashcan if you need to. But don’t let the audience know.”
And when asked by Luke if he’s always that nervous while on stage, he answered “not really” and it was accordingly more on him not believing in himself as much as other people do. But despite the blunder, he and his pair on stage, Louis Knight, both went on to the next round of the competition.
