State Of Calamity Declared In Marinduque Province
MARINDUQUE PROVINCE – Along with other areas in Southern Luzon, the Marinduque province is now under a state of calamity.
According to an article in Inquirer, Rino Labay, chief of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) in the province, said that it took them a few days to pass the resolution.
It requires at least two municipalities or towns to firstly declare a state of calamity before the said resolution will be passed.
At first, the town of Boac is the only area that passed a municipal resolution, until two other towns, namely Gasan and Torrijos, followed suit on December 5 (Thursday).
The DRRMC chief further added that the assesment on the damage, specifically on the number of houses, brought by typhoon Tisoy (Kammuri) continued on Friday.
The DRRMC in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) confirmed two people dead from Marinduque: Bernabe Lundag, a 38-year-old farmer from Gasan, and an unidentified man from the town of Boac.
Only Lundag’s death that was confirmed to be typhoon related.
Based on the report, in Palawan, Romero Heredero, a 60-year-old fisherman in Barangay Maglalambay, Busuanga, was also confirmed dead.
Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, regional police spokesperson reported that his body was found in a river in Sitio Carasanan in the town of Sofronio Española.
The regional police confirmed that the death toll was now at six, with most of them from Oriental Mindoro.
