According to Inquirer, the government is reconsidering the penalties they will impose on SMC for the intense traffic that occured after theit Skyway extension project began in late September.

Ramon Ang, president of the San Miguel Corporation, said that the conglomerate reopened the Skyway tollroad’s third at-grade northbound lane right after the Alabang viaduct in Muntinlupa City.

The corporation’s tollways also initiated a northbound two-lane steel ramp which connects the viaduct middle to the elevated concrete ramp of the Skyway for vehicles coming from Alabang-Zapote Road going to Makati City. However, this is only for Class 1 vehicles with RFID or radio frequency ID.

Based on the report, the closure of the northbound lane that worsened road traffic which began on night time September 24, was urged by the start of the construction of the Skyway extension project worth at about ₱10 billion.

Days later, an adjacent lane of the 2-lane east service was also closed.

The project is reported to further reduce traffic by extending the Skyway from Barangay Cupang to Barangay Putatan, which run parallel to both sides of the South Luzon Expressway.
