Motorcycle Taxi Rider Dies After Being Stabbed by Passenger Who Stole His Motorcycle in Caloocan
A motorcycle taxi rider lost his life after he was allegedly stabbed by a passenger who later stole the motorcycle he used to earn a living.
On the early hours of Tuesday (July 14, 2026), the 46-year-old rider identified only as Norberto suffered a stab wound to his side and was rushed to the Caloocan City Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, he died while receiving treatment.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Jeffrey, 43, had boarded the victim’s motorcycle as a passenger. At around 2:55 a.m., when they reached a street in Barangay 20, Caloocan City, the suspect suddenly attacked the rider and stabbed him.

After the assault, the suspect fled the scene using the victim’s motorcycle. Although badly injured, Norberto managed to run toward another street, where barangay personnel later found him. He was immediately brought to the hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
A few hours later, the suspect allegedly targeted another victim in Malabon City. Reports said he attempted to rob a 21-year-old ride-hailing driver and forcibly took the victim’s cellphone. However, the driver fought back and shouted for help.
The calls for help quickly drew the attention of nearby residents. Several bystanders chased the suspect through the area until he became trapped in a dead-end alley. He was eventually subdued and turned over to responding police officers.
Authorities recovered the stolen cellphone, the motorcycle believed to have been taken from the slain rider, and an ice pick that investigators suspect was used during the attack.
The incident has saddened many people, especially fellow motorcycle taxi riders who rely on their motorcycles to support their families.

Police have taken the suspect into custody and are preparing the appropriate charges as the investigation continues.
