Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, 2 Others Accused of Plunder Appear before the Sandiganbayan

RODANTE MARCOLETA – The Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered the detention of the Senator in Quezon City Jail in Payatas.

Shortly after he was arrested on July 6, Sen. Marcoleta was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital after experiencing chest pain and high blood pressure. He was confined at the PNP General Hospital for over a week.

Marcoleta is faced with a plunder case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman. The charges is over the supposed campaign donation that the Senator received but did not declare in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

According to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, they cannot simply close their eyes on the supposed multiple “admissions” of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta that he received campaign donations. The Ombudsman said the donation totals to P75 million.

According to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta during the rally organized by the members of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in support for him, some of the donors behind the multi-million campaign donation are his friends who want to be anonymous. He stressed that he is ready to face arrest and detention.

The surprise INC rally was held after Ombudsman Remulla claimed that plunder charges will be filed against Marcoleta. Several opposition government officials joined the said rally.

Previously, the PNP General Hospital said that the chest x-ray of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta showed that has “mild pneumonia”. Several laboratory tests were conducted on the detained Senator.

Today, based on News5, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta is back in Sandiganbayan. The Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered his detention at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas.

Based on the post, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta has already arrived at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas amid the plunder charges against him over the alleged undeclared campaign donation he received. Previously, during his confinement, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte visited Sen. Marcoleta at the PNP General Hospital.
