Alan Peter Cayetano Says SEA Games 2019 Mishaps Due To Delayed Budget Approval At Senate

SEA GAMES 2019 – House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano blamed the delayed budget approval for SEA Games 2019 mishaps.

Philippines will be hosting the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from November 30 to December 11, 2019. Filipino beauty queens will dazzle the opening ceremony of the regional meet.

Days before the biennial multi-sport event, the multi-million cauldron at the New Clark City sports complex become the centerpiece of the controversy. There are also several problems with the arrival of some participating countries.

In a previous article, the Thai athletes are complaining about the poor organization of transportation and their hotel accommodation. A member of the Thailand National Olympic Committee said the first hotel they went to advised them to find another hotel since they are ‘fully-booked.’

People were also shocked after learning that the Philippine women’s football team for the SEA Games was fed with egg, kikiam, and rice. “I’m not sure kung paano arrangement ng PHISGOC, but the quality and quantity of food is not enough, sa variety din, like for this morning hindi enough yung rice and kikiam and egg, walang nutrients,” said coach Let Dimzon.

Based on a report from Inquirer, Alan Peter Cayetano reacted to the statement of Deputy Speaker Michael Romero, who blamed Senator Franklin Drilon for the delayed budget approval.

He pointed out that Drilon cut the budget for the games and transferred it to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). “It was Senator Drilon who moved the budget of the SEA Games to the PSC and it was Senator Drilon who proposed cutting it by 33%,” he said.

According to the report, Alan Peter Cayetano stated Franklin Drilon was the one who led the criticism. He admitted that they lack communications.

“Pero siya ‘yung naglelead ng criticism. Siyempre nandoon ako sa Senate, alangan namang magbastusan kami. Nake-kwento ko lang yan in context na we need better communication,” said Cayetano.

We can all hope that the complaints and arguments will be over soon since they only have four days before the event.
