Footage Captured Inside The Controversial SEA Games 2019 Cauldron
SEA GAMES 2019 – Here’s what’s inside the controversial cauldron for the upcoming SEA Games in the Philippines.
The 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines will start next week. In a previous article, we featured the photos of the cauldrons that were used in the previous SEA Games.
Senator Franklin Drilon questioned the P50 million cauldron for the upcoming event. He said the money of the people was abused and that huge amount of money could build 56 classrooms.
Aside from the politician, some Filipinos couldn’t help but join the discussion regarding the controversial “kaldero” at the New Clark City.
ABS-CBN shared video footage inside the “symbolic” chamber on Twitter. It can be seen in the video that metal bars and panes were attached to create a high structure. It will be lit on the opening of the competition.
According to the report, there was a hollow space that’s filled with gravel. The metal bolts of the structure are still exposed.
House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said the Philippine government spent P18 million for the “mechanism” that would keep the flame in the cauldron burning for 11 days. He also said the construction of the “kaldero” was not excessive.
“Ang cauldron ay isang monumento. Isa itong simbolo. Isa itong work of art. Ito ay isang requirement sa lahat ng games because it symbolizes the games’ competition, spirit,” said Alan.
