Thai Athletes at SEA Games 2019 Complains About Transportation, Hotel Accommodation

SEA GAMES 2019 – The Thai athletes who will participate in the upcoming SEA Games 2019 are complaining about poor organization of transportation and hotel accommodation.

The Philippines hosts the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Days before the games, the multi-million cauldron become the centerpiece of controversy. It will be lit to signal the start of the tournament.

Senator Franklin Drilon is among the personalities who questioned the cost of the “Kalderong Ginto” at the New Clark sports complex. House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said the controversial cauldron is ‘not excessive, in fact, it is cheaper than the one built by Singapore.

Athletes from participating countries have started arriving in Manila ahead of the opening this coming November 30. However, it seems the SEA Games 2019 hosting started on the wrong foot.

Recently, a Thailand National Olympic Committee member named Thassana Trairat was interviewed by reporters from ABS-CBN. He expressed his frustrations over the problems days before the regional meet.

According to the report, Thassana Trairat said the Thai athletes are “upset.” They had problems with their transportation and hotel accommodations. He said someone told them to transfer to another hotel because the first hotel they went to was ‘fully-booked.’

On their follow-up post on Twitter, Trairat also complained about the food and drinks of the players. He said they also have to find a training venue for themselves.

Allan Peter Cayetano is the current chairman of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Committee (PHISGOC).
