Prosecutor Finds Grounds to Charge Kim Chiu’s Sister Lakam With Theft
LAKAMBINI “LAKAM” CHIU – The older sister of Kim Chiu is facing 124 counts of qualified theft over the alleged misuse of ₱44.4 million in corporate funds from House of Little Bunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB), the fashion company owned by the sisters.
The Quezon City Office of the City Prosecutor found sufficient grounds to charge Lakam after reviewing statements, bank records, and other evidence related to Kim’s complaint.
According to the prosecutor’s September 1, 2026 resolution, Lakam allegedly made 124 unauthorized withdrawals and online transfers from HOLB’s joint bank accounts between 2022 and 2025. The questioned transactions involved millions of pesos and were allegedly used for casino-related activities, personal debts, and other ventures unrelated to the company.

Kim said she trusted Lakam to help manage HOLB because of her busy career. Lakam allegedly handled the company’s bank transactions and had access to its funds. Kim later noticed large withdrawals and discovered that millions of pesos were missing from the accounts.
An audit allegedly found ₱36.65 million in funds that were missing, unaccounted for, or potentially misused. The prosecutor, however, determined that the amount covered by the qualified theft charges was ₱44,396,331.65.
Lakam denied the allegations. She said the transactions were allowed under their agreement as co-owners and claimed that some of the money was invested in a casino-related business venture intended to earn profits for the company. She also denied using the funds for gambling and questioned the audit results.

Kim’s personal accountant, Helena Tayag, was also accused of involvement but denied any participation in the transactions. The prosecutor dismissed the complaint against Tayag, saying there was not enough evidence linking her to the alleged misuse of the funds.
The prosecutor found sufficient evidence to charge Lakam, citing her access to the corporate accounts and the alleged use of company funds for purposes unrelated to HOLB. The case will proceed in court, where Lakam can present her defense.
