Robredo Declines Appointment To Co-Head Anti-Drug Campaign
ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo has declined President Duterte’s offer to head the anti-drug war.
On Nov. 5, the Palace revealed to the public the official letter of President Duterte that appointed VP Robredo as co-head of the committee against illegal drugs.
However, an official of the Liberal Party (LP) said that Robredo will not accept the offer to lead a drug war based on killing. He added that VP Leni would never take such an offer.
Based on a report from Inquirer, the LP vice president for external affairs Erin Tañada said that Leni feels the pain of the victims of the killings. He also said that killing is wrong.
Afterward, Tañada said that Leni also lost his husband so she knows the pain of losing a loved one. “Alam niya ang pangamba ng iniwan para itaguyod mag-isa ang mga anak.”, he added.
Adding to this, Tañada is afraid that Leni’s appointment would just be used as a scapegoat for Duterte’s failure to solve the drug problem. He added that the appointment was vague.
He continued and said that passing the anti-drug campaign to Robredo was an admission of failure. Tañada added that what happened wasn’t a war on drugs, but a war on the poor.
Kasi ang tunay na war on drugs, ginagamot ang mga na-a-adik sa illegal drugs; hinuhuli ang malalaking illegal-drug smugglers at ang mga kasabwat nito sa Customs at sa pulis

However, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that they do not believe that the Vice President is incapable of rising to the challenge. “Unless of course, she proves us wrong by declining the appointment“.
