Panelo Tells Robredo Camp To Stop Making Demands And Excuses
PANELO – The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo was told to stop making demands and excuses upon her appointment as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
Yesterday, President Rodrigo Duterte officially appointed Vice President Leni Robredo as co-chairperson of ICAD. However, Robredo’s spokesman, Barry Gutierrez said the position has no power.
In lieu of this, the Presidential Spokesperson, Salvador Panelo gave a rebuttal to Gutierrez’s statement. He threw shade at Robredo’s spokesman and said he needs to brush up his law.
In a statement, Panelo said that the President has exclusive control over all offices and officials in the executive branch. He added that the president has the authority to create positions and items.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Panelo said that Robredo’s camp has been dodging and giving all sorts of excuses and demands.
We would like to think that they do not come from VP Leni herself but from her advisers who apparently would not want her to succeed in serving the peopleSalvador Panelo
The Presidential Spokesperson told Robredo’s camp to “sleep over it”. He added that meaningful public service carries with it a huge burden.
Afterward, he stated that they do not believe that the Vice President is incapable of stepping up to the challenge. Then, he quipped Robredo, saying “unless of course, she proves us wrong by declining the appointment“.
In offering and appointing VP Leni as drug czar, the President is simply being open to suggestions from a critic of the drug war. The President believes that there is no better person who can implement such suggestions than the person making them,Salvador Panelo
