The blockbuster movie starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards was nominated at the 2019 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AACTA).

Hello, Love, Goodbye was directed by one of the country’s premiere directors, Cathy Garcia-Molina. Paired with the sensational performance of Kathryn and Alden, it became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.

The movie depicts the struggles faced by OFWs in Hong Kong seen through the perspective of Joy, a young nursing graduate, working for a better future for her and her family.

In a twist of fate, she meets a bartender, and their love story begins. It was even described by the AACTA as a “highly relatable romantic comedy”.

Aside from the comedy aspect, it does an excellent job of highlighting the challenges faced by OFWs trying to get by. It also showcases the talents of both Kathryn and Alden, as they move past love teams, and venture into new waters.

The success of the movie in the international scene also inches Alden closer to his dream of making it big in Hollywood. He has stated that his goal was for Filipino actors to be recognized worldwide.

Hello, Love, Goodbye is up against entries from different Asian countries. South Korea’s “Parasite” and “Ne Zha”, China’s official submission.

The other entries were from India and Japan. According to ABS-CBN, The Best Asian Film winner will be declared in Sydney, as part of an awards ceremony scheduled for December 4.
