Himig Handog Top 12 Finalists Unveiled

HIMIG HANDOG – Kapamilya’s songwriting competition unveiled the top 12 song finalists from almost 4,000 entries.

There thousands of talented songwriters in the Philippines. These Pinoy composers reflect their struggles on the lyrics of the songs. ABS-CBN’s songwriting competition, ‘Himig Handog’ accepts song lyrics from anyone wherever in the country.

Celebrities and renowned singers performed the songs created by the participants of the biggest songwriting tilt. Among stars who previously participated include Toni Gonzaga, Jake Zyrus, and Morissette Amon among others.

Based on a report from Inquirer, ‘Himig Handog’ received almost 4,000 entries and they are now down to the top 12. The songs are now produced and performed by selected interpreters.

OPM singer Moira Dela Torre and Daniel Padilla joins this year’s competition and collaborate for Dan Martel Simon Tañedo’s composition titled “Mabagal.” Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador will perform Rez Torremoro and Elmar Jann Bolaño’s “Nung Tayo Pa.”

According to the report, Davaoeño singer-songwriter Eamarie Gilayo sings her own composition “Ikaw at Linggo,” while Alekzandra Nicolle Quitalig likewise interprets her own song “Alaala.” Vanya Castor sings “Paano Ba” composed by Richanne Charms Jacinto. Meanwhile, Justin Vasquez will interpret Joseph Ponce’s “Isa Pang ikaw.”

TJ Monterde sings Jerome Arcangel and Cee Jay Del Rosario’s “Panandalian” while Alex Gonzaga interprets “Please Lang,” penned by Michael Angelo “Aikee” Aplacador.

Ferdinand Aragon’s composition “Ingat” will be interpreted by I Belong To The Zoo, while Janine Berdine sings “Sa’yong Mundo” by Noah Zuniga. Davey Langit sings “Simula ng Dulo,” which he co-wrote with Therese Villarante while Joana Da performs her song “Sabihin Ko” with LJ Manzano.

Based on the report, the grand winner of ‘Himig Handog’ will take home 1 million pesos while the second, third, fourth, and fifth placers get P500K, P200K, P150K, and P100K cash prizes, respectively. The grand finals will happen on Kapamilya Sunday program ASAP Natin ‘To on October 13.
