Sandiganbayan Denies Former Bukidnon Mayor’s Plea To Lower His Sentence

FORMER BUKIDNON MAYOR – The Sandiganbayan denied the plea of ex-Bukidnon Mayor Teddy Pajaro to lower the sentence to him.

Undeniably, a lot of Filipino politicians are faced with cases over the misuse of the government funds. One of them is Teddy Pajaro, an ex-mayor of Bukidnon.

Pajaro is facing a charge of the alleged misuse of the government fund amounting to not less than Php 300,000.00. The said amount was used for livelihood assistance.

The former mayor and his then municipal accountant, Crispina Aben, were faced with charges over malversation of public funds through falsifying the documents.

Recently, an update regarding the issue crossed the surface.

Based on a recent report on GMA News Online, the Sandiganbayan denied the plea of former Bukidnon Mayor Teddy Pajaro to lower the sentence on him. He was sentenced with a 40-year imprisonment.

Aben’s motion for the re-computation of the penalties set was also junked by the Court.

According to Sandiganbayan, Pajaro and Aben should have filed their plea to the Regional Trial Court that have the jurisdiction over them.

Based on the report, the motion should have been filed at the RTC of Panabo City, Davao del Norte as the two accused are currently detained at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm.

Currently, the two(2) former government officials have already served 18 years of their sentence.
