Moira Dela Torre replies to Regine Velasquez.
MOIRA DELA TORRE – The soul singer Moira Dela Torre replies to Regine Velasquez following their “sagutan” in Idol Philippines.
The Idol Philippines aired every weekend in ABS-CBN features four judges such as James Reid, Moira Dela Torre, Regine Velasquez, and Vice Ganda hosted by Billy Crawford. And as judges with various taste and genre in music, it will be inevitable for them to clash in terms of their opinions at one point.
And just recently, an Idol hopeful’s performance from Iloilo City singing her original composition entitled “Karagatan” has ignited a brief tension between Moira and Regine.
“I liked the song, I liked how you performed it, I like your voice… My problem is, ‘you guys have the same sound’ to me I know it’s current but you sound the same and the thing is, I know you’re making the sound, it’s not something you’re born with. You make the sound. It’s the tone that you make,” the Songbird commented. She was insisting that the auditionee makes the sound that she is not naturally born with. She just wanted a distinct character of her voice and not just making it up.
In defense, Moira, who is on the same genre, said, “But also Mama Reg, gusto kong i-defend si Leann (Idol aspirant) because for me ang dami ko na din nasulat na kanta, ‘yung mga kanta ko pare-pareho ang tunog until I brought it to the studio and i-arrange na.”
And on Twitter, Regine posted about “the sound” to where Moira has replied.
Netizens, on the other hand, agree to what the Songbird is trying to relay through her comments. Some have understood her point that in order to be the next Idol, he or she needs to have this uniqueness and own trademark with authenticity.
