PAGASA Releases Latest Update On Tropical Depression Samuel

The state weather bureau PAGASA releases the latest update about Tropical Depression Samuel, which is strong as storm Urduja.

On Monday (November 19, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported the latest weather updates in the country.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Samuel was last spotted at 660 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Samuel has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 65 kph moving 15 kph at a west-northwest direction.

The weather agency said that Samuel could intensify into a tropical storm Urduja and hit Dinagat Island or Surigao del Norte on Tuesday night (November 20, 2018).

PAGASA raised signal no.1 in the following areas:

  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Agusan del Norte
  • Dinagat Island Province

The weather bureau also said the Caraga, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental might experience heavy rain that may cause floods and landslides.

The remaining parts of Visayas and Mindanao would have scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The weather disturbance was expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday (November 22, 2018).
