List of Party-List Groups & Nominees for 2019 Polls To Be Issued By Comelec
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) was about to issue the list of party-list groups and nominees for the upcoming 2019 polls.
Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon announced that the agency decided to publicize the list of political organizations and its respective nominees for the 2019 election.
Guanzon said that the list will be released in the newspaper and even on the official website of Comelec with the list of names.
“List of political parties and party-list will be published in newspaper and @COMELEC website soon, with names of party-list nominees,” Guanzon said.
Previously, the poll watchdog Kontra Daya called the attention of Comelec to publicize the list to prevent the bastardization of the party-list system.
Kontra Daya stressed that the system becomes the backdoor entry of big personalities in the Philippine society into Congress.
The poll watchdog group also wants the Comelec to clean the system despite the 2013 Supreme Court ruling that a nominee need not belong to sector represented by the party-list group in Congress.
