LTO Orders Jeepney Driver to Explain After Passenger Falls From Moving Vehicle
A jeepney driver was ordered to explain after a passenger fell from a moving vehicle due to alleged aggressive driving.
The Land Transportation Office has issued a show-cause order against a jeepney driver over alleged reckless driving. The post quickly circulated on social media and garnered various reactions from the online community.
In the video, the jeepney can be seen suddenly swerving to the left while traveling along a public road. The unexpected maneuver reportedly caused a passenger to lose balance and fall from the vehicle. The victim suffered injuries as a result of the incident.

According to the LTO’s initial investigation, the driver did not stop to assist the injured passenger. Instead of checking the victim or providing help, the jeepney allegedly continued its trip.
LTO issued a show cause order against both the registered owner or operator of the jeepney and its driver. The agency has directed them to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division on July 8, 2026, and submit sworn statements explaining the incident.
The operator may face charges related to employing a driver accused of reckless, insolent, discourteous, or irresponsible behavior while operating a public utility vehicle.
Meanwhile, the driver has been ordered to explain why he should not be held liable for several possible violations. These include reckless driving, failure to fulfill a driver’s responsibilities during an accident, and being considered an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The agency ordered immediate surrender of the driver’s license. The license has also been placed under a 90-day preventive suspension while authorities review the case. In addition, the jeepney involved has been placed under alarm status.
Authorities continue to investigate the case as they determine the appropriate actions and penalties that may be imposed based on the findings of the inquiry.
