Amid the controversy surrounding the supposed multi-million donation to the Senator, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla announced that a plunder complaint may be filed against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta before the Sandiganbayan this week. It immediately sparked a rally conducted by the members of Iglesia ni Cristo.

Thousands of INC members joined the protest against the possible arrest of Marcoleta. The rally was held along EDSA. Many people gathered in White Plains Avenue today to show support to the Senator. His fellow lawmaker, Sen. Imee Marcos, also joined the protest.

At the INC rally, Sen. Imee Marcos slammed the government led by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to him, the government is closing its eyes on the evidence and the testimonies including those of the 18 ex-marines.

Way back in November 2025, the presidential Sister also joined the three-day rally then. In her speech, she even accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos of allegedly using illegal drugs.

Amid the possible filing of plunder charges him, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta recently showed no fear in facing arrest and imprisonment. Based on a post shared by Sen. Robin Padilla, his fellow senator in the minority bloc, Marcoleta expressed his belief that he will be arrested and jailed but he stressed that it won’t stop him from serving the people.

“Alam kong aarestuhin nila ako, alam kong ikukulong nila ako ngunit hindi po dahilan ‘yan para tumigil ako sa paglilingkod sa inyo. Kasi po iisa lang ang paraan ko upang paglingkuran ang taong-bayan dahil sa pagtitiwalang ibinigay niyo sa akin,” the Senator said.

Based on the post, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta called his possible arrest and imprisonment as supposedly small acts of sacrifice to show to the Filipinos their worth as the people. He believes that the case against him is allegedly orchestrated by Ombudsman Boying Remulla.

“Maliit na bagay po ang sakripisyo na aking haharapin. Kung ang katumbas po nito’y maipakita natin ang kahalagahan ninyo bilang mamamayan ng ating bansa… Huwag po tayong pumayag na basta-basta na lang nilang baluktutin ang katwiran,” Marcoleta said.

Recently, Malacañang spoke on the side of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid the INC surprise rally in support for Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
