Latest Updates About Typhoon Ompong (Sept 13) Released By PAGASA
The state weather bureau PAGASA has released the latest updates regarding Typhoon Ompong with an international name ‘Mangkhut”.
On Thursday (September 13, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the latest news about Typhoon Ompong.
PAGASA reported that Bagyong Ompong was last spotted 855 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 255 kph.
The weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said that Ompong’s maximum sustained winds may reach 210 to 220 kph before making a landfall.
The weather agency also said that Ompong might intensify into a super typhoon before directly hits Cagayan province on weekend.
The residents of northern Cagayan were advised to move to higher ground before the typhoon makes a landfall.

Quitlong also warned the residents within the typhoon’s 900-kilometer radius would experience intense to torrential rains.
The weather bureau also advised the residents along the typhoon’s track to take precautionary measured for possible flashfloods and landslides.
As of now, about 16 areas are under tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 due to the threats of the typhoon.
