Pressure On N.Korea As “Dead-End Road,” Russian President Vladimir Putin Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the pressure weighed on North Korea to stop nuclear tests as a “dead-end road.”

On Thursday (August 31, 2017), Putin has warned the United States and other countries urging the North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un to stop its ballistic missile program was futile and misguided.

The 64-year-old president said that the tension between North Korea and other countries could be only settled through a direct dialogue with all the parties involved in the issue.

Putin also said that having pressure, provocations, militarist, and insulting rhetoric against Pyongyang are a dead-end road, which could only worsen the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

“The region’s problems should only be settled through a direct dialogue with all the parties concerned without any preconditions. Provocations, pressure and militarist and insulting rhetoric are a dead-end road,” said by Putin quoted by CNN.

The Russian president was also calling to the parties involved in the issue for talks to put a solution to the current problem.

In the mid-2000s, Russia was also included in the six-party talks who tried to shut down the nuclear program of North Korea to prevent future misunderstanding and tension.

North Korea seems so unstoppable after launching several nuclear missiles in different locations such as Japan, Pacific, United States, and Guam as they aim to develop a long-range missile that could reach the US mainland.
