Additional P30-M Poll Protest Fee Paid By Bongbong Marcos

An additional amount of P30 million was paid by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the poll protest fee at the Supreme Court.

In 2016, Bongbong lose his vice presidential race against his rival Vice President Leni Robredo. He was disputing his loss and paid P66 million poll protest fee poll protest fee, which was required by the Supreme Court.

On Monday (July 10, 2017), the young Marcos has paid another P30.2 million second tranche to the SC’s Cash Collection and Disbursement Division. The additional amount paid by Bongbong will cover the cost of recount and retrieval of ballots for his electoral protest.

Poll Protest Fee

Marcos completed the payment before July 14, 2017, and paid the amount ahead of the preliminary conference of his protest against Robredo. His protest against Robredo, who came Liberal party will be held before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.

The P66 million deposited by Marcos in 2016 was for the 132, 446 precincts included in his protest. While, Robredo was ordered to pay an amount of P15 million for the 31, 278 precincts included on her counter-protest against Bongbong.

Bongbong paid P36. 023 million as first installment last April 17, 2017, which he raised with the help of at least 40 friends and supporters. While, Robredo paid P8 million as her first installment last May 02, 2017.

Poll Protest Fee

Previously, Marcos filed a protest regarding the reliability of the Vote Counting Machines Consolidating Canvass System units, secure digital cards and other devices used during May 2016 elections.

On Tuesday afternoon (July 11, 2017), Lawyer Estelito Mendoza will represent Marcos during the pre-trial of Marcos and Robredo before the high tribunal. The pre-trial will allow the both parties to narrow down the conflict between the former senator and vice president.
