Transport Group Denies Alleged Fee Collection From Drivers Not Joining The Protest

Stop and Go transport group denies the allegation of collecting fees from other drivers.

TRANSPORT GROUP – Stop and Go transport group put down the allegation that they were collecting fees from drivers and operators who did not cooperate with the transport strike.

Recently, based on a report in ABS-CBN News, the Stop and Go transport group president has already spoken and denied the allegation that the group collects from drivers and operators who were plying their routes today.

According to the report, Stop and Go transport group President Jun Magno spoke to DZMM and said that there is no truth in the allegation that the group collects fees.

“100 percent iyan na kasinungalingan [That is 100% lie],” said the transport group President based on the report.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has earlier announced based on the report that they received information that the Stop and Go and Piston transport groups collect some amounts from drivers.

According to an interview with LTFRB Board member Atty. Lourdes Lizada in ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda, they received reports regarding the alleged fee collection from operators who were “plying their routes” and that those drivers who wish not to go with the transport strike have to pay P1,000.

Furthermore, based on the report, the LTFRB Board member said that the transport strike which is a protest against the plan to phase out the old public vehicles is an illegal move.

Undeniably, the transport strike today has affected lots of people most especially those who have works to attend to and as well as students whose schools announced that cl(–foul word(s) removed–) will go on.

Reportedly, the nationwide transport strike will start today at 4:00 in the morning and will last until 5:00 in the afternoon. Lots of education institutions have already announced the suspension of cl(–foul word(s) removed–).

Moreover, there were also mayors of some cities who announced that cl(–foul word(s) removed–) will not be held today. However, there are still other education institutions, most especially on the tertiary level, which will hold cl(–foul word(s) removed–).

Some workers and students undeniably woke up early in the hope that there are drivers who are plying their routes so they could get to their destination. Some considered just taking motorcycle just to arrive at their destination.

Nevertheless, certain bus operators have announced earlier the ongoing plying of routes and have assured the people that there would be enough buses to cater those who are off to certain destinations.
