Here’s the reason why Malaysia is not joining the Miss Universe 2021 that will be held in Israel.
MISS UNIVERSE 2021 – Malaysia is not sending any representative to the 70th Miss Universe pageant and here’s their official statement.
The Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (MUMO) decided not to send someone to represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe pageant. They announced this with an official statement that revealed the reason behind this unfortunate happening.
According to the issued statement, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are not able to organize a Miss Universe Malaysia 2021 pageant which will technically result in not sending any representative to the international pageantry. The worsening situation of the pandemic accordingly led to limited international and domestic travel.
It said in the statement, “Unfortunately, due to worsening COVID-19 situation which has resulted in limited international and domestic travel, we have been unable to hold out local Miss Universe Malaysia 2021 pageant.”
Thus, they decided to decline the invitation to this year’s pageant. They wish the delegates good luck and expressed that they are looking forward to joining in future pageants.
Last year, they sent Francisca Luhong to the international pageantry, the reigning Miss Universe Malaysia. This year’s pageant will be held at Eilat, Israel in December. To recall, the last pageant was held in Florida, United States in May where Miss Mexico Andrea Meza won beating 73 other contestants. Standard operating procedures (SOP) were strictly followed during the pageant because the world is currently facing a massive health problem.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the candidates are now down to the Top 75. They will be later on narrowed to 50. Kisses Delavin topped the headshot challenge and Cebu’s Steffi Aberasturi strutted her way to the Top 1 of the competition’s runway challenge.
