NPA Leader Slain In Gunfight With Army In Northern Samar
NORTHERN SAMAR – A New People’s Army (NPA) high-ranking leader was recently slain in an encounter in San Isidro Town in Northern Samar.
The 43rd Infantry Battalion reported that the troops clashed with 60 CNTs or Communist NPA Terrorists with the aid of new military technology which located the enemy in Barangay Happy Valley on December 21, according to a report from Manila Bulletin.
This resulted in the death of the Secretary of Front Committee 2, Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) Emporium, Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC), who is known under the alias “Apple”. The body of “Apple” was left behind by his retreating comrades.
At the government’s side, meanwhile, no casualty was reported.
The army successfully overran the rebel’s lair, which accommodated at about 60 members consisting of 30 bunkers, two sentinel posts, three comfort rooms, a kitchen, and a mess hall, including several firearms.
Recovered from the encounter include a cellphone, two bottles of dextrose, and subversive documents of high intelligence value.
Lt. Col. Raymundo Picut Jr., Commanding Officer of the 43rd Infantry Battalion said that the timely and accurate information given by the residents contributed to the neutralization of the armed group behind the recent atrocities in Northern Samar, based on the report.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang inyong kasundalohan sa pagbabantay at pagseserbisyo sa ating mga kababayan para masigurong ligtas sa panggugulo at pangingikil ng mga NPA ngayong panahon ng kapaskuhan,”
“Nakakalungkot lang isipin na ilang araw na lang ay sasapit na ang Pasko at may isang pamilya na nawalan ng mahal sa buhay ng dahil lang sa ipinaglalaban na maling idiolohiya. Kaya sa mga kapatid natin na nasa kilusan pa, bumaba na kayo at magbalik-loob sa gobyerno. Masarap ang mamuhay na kapiling ang pamilya,”
