PAGASA Expects At Least 10 Tropical Cyclones To Hit PH From June To November
The state weather bureau PAGASA sees at least 10 tropical cyclones to batter the Philippines from June to November this year.
On Thursday (May 30, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that around 10 storms are expected to hit the country for the next few months.
Deputy Administrator for Research and Development Flaviana Hilario said that an average of one (1) up to three (3) tropical cyclones is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) every month starting June until November.
“For June po, 1 or 2. Sa July po, 2 or 3. Tapos pag August, 2 or 3. For September, 2 to 4. For October, 2 to 3 at for November po 1 or 2,” Hilario said.
The weather bureau has yet to determine whether the cyclones are tropical depression, tropical storm or a typhoon.
Hilario also said that the weather agency might declare the official start of the rainy season on the second week of June.
