Independent Bishops Revealed Their Endorsed Candidates For 2019 Elections
INDEPENDENT BISHOPS – Independent Bishops Conference of the Philippines or IBCP released the names of their endorsed candidates.
The IBCP is a group of 187 bishops from all over the country.
Recently, the group released an official list of the names of Senatorial Candidates that they have decided to endorse in an endorsement rally held at Club Filipino.
The list is comprised of 12 names representing their Top 12 picks for the forthcoming 2019 National Elections.
Most of the names in the official list were senatorial candidates that are also endorsed by President Duterte’s administration.
There were 2 candidates however, that are from the opposing parties.
The Bishops claimed that these candidates had good track records and are truly qualified for the senatorial positions.
Independent Bishops Conference of the Philippines president Efraim Perez said it specifically during the rally.
In an article from Inquirer, it was revealed that Bishop Perez revealed their basis in choosing their top picks in a statement:
“Ang naging basehan ng mga obispo doon sa dalawa, hindi dahil sila’y kaibigan o malapit sa akin. Alam natin ang kanilang track record.”
“The basis of the Bishops for those two, was not because thery were my friends or they’re close to me. We know their track record.”
Here are the names of the candidates they agreed to endorse:
- Imee Marcos
- Bong Go
- Bato dela Rosa
- JV Ejercito
- Nancy Binay
- Bong Revilla
- Pia Cayetano
- Koko Pimentel
- Francis Tolentino
- Cynthia Villar
- Bam Aquino
- Mar Roxas
In a Facebook post by News5, a photo of the declaration was uploaded:
10 of the Senatorial Candidates endorsed by the bishops were from Hugpong Ng Pagbabago and the remaining two were Otso Diretso.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
