82 Barangay Affected By Flash Flood In Iloilo
About 82 barangay are affected by the flash flood in Iloilo City because of the heavy rains brought by the Tropical Storm Agaton.
On Tuesday (January 02, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) have raised the storm signal warnings in some parts of the country as Bagyong Agaton enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Bagyong Agaton has maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph, moving 25 kph at west direction.
Currently, the tropical depression is passing through the vicinity of Bais City, Negros Oriental and across the Visayas region.
The state weather bureau agency also waned the residents in the affected areas to prepare for possible flash floods and landslides.
Recently, ABS-CBN reported that at least 82 barangays in Iloilo City are affected by severe flash floods due to the heavy rain.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that the several roads in the municipalities of Panitan, Sigma, Maayon, Cuartero, Dumalag at Dao were currently affected by flash floods.
The main roads connecting Kalibo and Iloilo are currently inaccessible due to flooding.
Iloilo is one of the regions under storm signal no. 1 because of the strong winds and heavy rainfall.
The weather disturbance is expected to leave the country either Wednesday afternoon (January 3) or Thursday morning (January 4).
