San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora designated a ‘Basaan’ zone for the upcoming Wattah Wattah Festival on June 24, 2026.
According to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, the designated splash zone will be located along Pinaglabanan Street, specifically between N. Domingo Street and P. Guevarra Street. Water splashing activities will only be allowed from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The move aims to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the popular water festival while maintaining order and safety throughout the city.
The city government introduced the designated area to prevent inconvenience to people who do not wish to participate in the celebration. Officials also hope to avoid conflicts and disturbances that may occur when water activities spread to areas outside the festival zone.
The same system was implemented during last year’s celebration and was considered effective in keeping the festivities organized.
To ensure public safety, police officers will be deployed both inside and outside the splash zone. Authorities will monitor the area throughout the event and respond to any violations of festival rules.
Several restrictions will also be enforced during the celebration. The use of dirty or contaminated water will be strictly prohibited. Dangerous items such as water bombs, unauthorized fire trucks, and high-pressure water sprayers will not be allowed.
Authorities will also prohibit threatening behavior, physical violence, and climbing onto or entering vehicles during the festivities.
A liquor ban will be implemented from midnight until 2:00 p.m. on the day of the festival. The restriction is intended to help maintain peace and prevent incidents that may be linked to alcohol consumption.
City officials reminded the public to celebrate responsibly and respect the rules in place. Those who violate the regulations may face penalties, including a fine of P5,000 and up to 10 days of imprisonment.
