Why Yen Santos Says She Will Never Make the Same Mistake Again
YEN SANTOS – Kapamilya actress Yen Santos has broken her silence on the challenges she faced during her years away from showbiz, revealing how love once caused her to lose sight of herself.
Yen Santos is making a highly anticipated return to the entertainment industry after stepping away from acting for nearly eight years. During her absence from showbiz, she remained a frequent subject of entertainment headlines due to discussions surrounding her personal life.
Among the issues that attracted public attention were her relationship and eventual breakup with Kapuso actor Paolo Contis, as well as rumors linking her to former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson. Despite the controversies, Yen chose to stay away from the spotlight and focus on her personal journey.
Now, after a long period of reflection and growth, Yen is returning to television through ABS-CBN’s upcoming suspense-drama series, The Loyalty Game. The actress admitted that the past several years were filled with significant challenges, but she is grateful for having overcome them.
Speaking during the media conference for The Loyalty Game, Yen shared, “Mahaba ang proseso pero kailangan. Sobrang hirap pero kailangan kong pagdaanan yun para mahanap ko ulit yung sarili ko.”
She further revealed, “Nawala ko yung kung sino ako. Hindi na ako productive, hindi ko na nagawa ang gusto ko.”
Yen also expressed deep gratitude to ABS-CBN, Star Magic, and Star Creatives for allowing her to return to the acting world. She acknowledged that not everyone is fortunate enough to receive a second chance after being away from the industry for such a long time.
“Alam kong hindi lahat nabibigyan ng pagkakataon na makabalik pagkatapos ng ganun kahabang panahon.
“I’m very grateful for this chance, yung tiwala at suportang binigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN, ng Star Magic, ng Star Creatives. So, ako talaga, I just want to repay that by doing my best,” she said.
When asked whether she had any regrets regarding her past decisions, Yen said she does not regret them, but she considers them valuable life lessons. One of the most important realizations she gained was the importance of self-love and maintaining her identity even while loving someone deeply.
“Pwede kang magmahal ng sobra, pero huwag mong kakalimutan kung sino ka. Ngayon ako babawi. Natuto na ako. Hindi na mauulit,” said Yen.
She continued, “Mas natutunan kong mahalin ang sarili ko ngayon.”
