Bong Go Denies Any Wrongdoing as ICC Arrest Rumors Spread
BONG GO – Amid growing speculation over a supposed ICC arrest warrant, Senator Bong Go insists he has done nothing wrong and remains confident in his record of public service.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go reiterated his innocence on Thursday following reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) had allegedly issued a warrant for his arrest. The senator emphasized that he has never violated any law and expressed his trust in God regarding the situation.
In a statement, Go said, “Ipinagpapasa Diyos ko na lamang po ang lahat. Buong buhay ko, wala po akong nilabag na anumang batas ng tao o batas ng Diyos. Police matters have never been part of my mandate.”
Bong Go also appealed for fairness in the handling of the issue, stating, “I hope and pray na hindi mapupulitika ang issue hinggil sa sinasabing ICC warrant daw laban sa akin.”
Speculation about the alleged arrest warrant emerged after Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte posted on Facebook on Wednesday that “a highly reliable source” had informed him that the ICC had issued warrants against Go and two former police officials.
Despite the circulating reports, the Department of the Interior and Local Government clarified that Philippine authorities had not received any official communication regarding the supposed warrant.
Go and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa were previously identified by the ICC among eight current and former government officials who were allegedly involved as “co-perpetrators” in crimes against humanity linked to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.
Throughout Duterte’s political career, Go was regarded as one of his closest allies, serving alongside him during his time as mayor of Davao City and later during his presidency.
The senator has consistently rejected the accusations, describing them as “entirely unfounded” and maintaining that they are unrelated to the responsibilities he carried out while working under Duterte’s administration.
Addressing the allegations, Go stated, “Let me be clear, at no time did I have any involvement in, knowledge of, or authority over these allegations.”
Meanwhile, Senator Dela Rosa, a former chief of the Philippine National Police, had earlier sought protection from possible arrest within the Senate premises. However, he reportedly left the Senate compound following a shooting incident on May 13 and has not appeared publicly since then.
