Dennis Padilla has this reaction.
Famous actor Dennis Padilla was saddened after his daughter, Claudia Barretto, pursued dropping his surname from her name.
The issue began with Dennis Padilla, whose complicated relationship with his children is an open book to the people around them. To recall, in 2014, Marjorie’s eldest daughter with Dennis, Julia Barretto, filed a petition to change her surname from Baldivia, Dennis’ legal surname, to Barretto.

According to Julia’s camp, the move was intended to align her legal name with the surname she is widely known by and uses publicly, helping avoid confusion between her public identity and official records.
He’d file a Motion to Intervene;Â however, if the court grants Julia’s wishes, he would contest it and would still love his daughter the same. In 2015, Julia ultimately decided not to change her surname.
While it seems everything was just good and things are discreet between them, Claudia filed a motion to change her last name just recently. Padilla shared a document online that said:
“IN THE MATTER OF THE CHANGE OF NAME OF CLAUDIA ISABELLE BARRETTO BALDIVIA TO CLAUDIA ISABELLE BARRETTO.
“CLAUDIA ISABELLE BARRETTO BALDIVIA, “alias” CLAUDIA BARRETTO, Petitioner,
“-versus-
“REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES through the OFFICE OF THE SOLICITOR GENERAL, LOCAL CIVIL REGISTRAR OF QUEZON CITY, LOCAL CIVIL REGISTRAR OF MUNTINLUPA CITY, AND PHILIPPINE STATISTICS AUTHORITY,
“Respondents.”
The other details in the document could not be clearly read, but Dennis accompanied the post with an emotional message. His emotional message to Claudia said, “Kung ang lungkot ko ay kasiyahan mo, anak… Hindi magbabago ang pagmamahal ko syo Claudia – Papa.”

He respected his daughter’s petition, but he was saddened by it.
Dennis and Marjorie Barretto have three children together, namely Julia, Claudia, and Leon. They got married in November 1997, and in 2007, they separated. The same year, Marjorie filed for annulment. In 2009, Dennis and Marjorie officially parted ways as their marriage was declared null and void.
