Archie Alemania speaks about marital woes.
Controversial actor Archie Alemania has opened up about the struggles in his marriage to Gee Canlas following their separation.
TV host and actress Gee Canlas has confirmed the separation from Archie Alemania in a post. Her post appeared to be a declaration that they have separated after she shared that she is now a solo parent.
Gee Canlas and Archie Alemania married in a garden wedding in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, in 2018, and shared a son named Caleb.
Canlas said having a family had always been her dream, making her decision to end the marriage difficult. She admitted that her biggest regret was not leaving sooner, as she slowly lost herself while trying to keep their family together.
Recently, in an interview, Alemania also spoke about their marital woes and their separation. According to his statement, among the things he believes in marriage is that a wife should submit to her husband.
Alemania reportedly cited what he considers two “golden rules” for a happy marriage, one of which centers on the wife submitting to the husband. His statements have since drawn attention, particularly amid the couple’s ongoing marital issues.
“Wife, submit to your husband. Husband, love your wife. E, ang nangyayari, pareho kaming hari sa isang kaharian, so hindi puwede yon. Ayun yung laging nangyayari for the past how many years. So, saan pa ako lulugar? Pinagbibigyan ko lahat. Lahat-lahat binigay ko,” he said.
Their disagreements included issues concerning their respective roles in their marriage. There were times when he wanted to walk away from their marriage, saying he could no longer endure what he described as Canlas’ strictness and her tendency to make decisions on her own.
However, Alemania said Canlas would always stop him whenever he attempted to leave.
He eventually chose to stay in the marriage for the sake of their child, even as the situation took an emotional toll on him. He admitted, however, that he had already become emotionally detached from the relationship.
Alemania also said he stopped involving himself in major household decisions, leaving them to Canlas and telling her to simply decide for herself.
