Man Arrested After Shooting Dog for Biting His Goat in Nueva Vizcaya Incident

A man was arrested after authorities responded to a report involving the shooting of a dog that had bitten his goat in Nueva Vizcaya.

On May 28, 2026, the authorities arrest a man who allegedly shoot a dog in Brgy. Bugnay, Diadi. The suspect, a 42-year-old businessman, was later released temporarily after posting bail amounting to P12,000.

According to reports, the incident was witnessed by the dog’s owner, a 42-year-old businesswoman who immediately informed authorities. She said that the suspect entered their compound and used an airgun to shoot the dog, which resulted in its immediate death.

Police officers quickly responded to the area to investigate the situation. They later tracked down the suspect and went to his residence. The man eventually surrendered and voluntarily showed the airgun that was allegedly used in the incident.

During questioning, the suspect did not deny what happened. He explained that his actions were driven by frustration after he claimed that the dog had repeatedly attacked and injured his goats.

He also said that the same dog had reportedly caused harm to other animals owned by neighbors in the area.

Authorities confirmed that the incident is now being handled under Republic Act 8485, also known as the Animal Welfare Act, which protects animals from unnecessary harm and cruelty.

While some understood the concern of livestock owners, others emphasized the importance of handling such problems through proper legal and humane channels instead of violence.

Local officials reminded residents that disputes involving animals should be reported to authorities so that proper action can be taken. They also stressed that responsible ownership and proper animal control are important in preventing similar incidents in the future.
