Authorities Arrest Motorcycle Thief in Quezon City w/ Help of GPS TrackerĀ

A motorcycle thief from Rodriguez, Rizal, was caught in Quezon City with the help of a GPS tracking device attached to the vehicle.

An 18-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a parked motorcycle in Barangay Geronimo, Rodriguez, Rizal. The stolen motorcycle was valued at more than P100,000.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly showed the suspect arriving on another motorcycle before approaching the victim’s parked vehicle. He was then seen quickly tampering with the motorcycle until he managed to start it and drive away.

Fortunately, the stolen motorcycle was equipped with a GPS tracker. After discovering the theft, the owner immediately reported the incident to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station. The tracker later sent a location signal from an area along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City, allowing authorities to narrow down the suspect’s whereabouts.

Police officers from Rodriguez coordinated with the Quezon City Police District, particularly the Project 6 Police Station, to locate the stolen motorcycle. Their joint operation led them to the suspect early on July 27.

When officers found the suspect using the stolen motorcycle, he allegedly attempted to escape. A brief chase followed as the suspect sped away in an effort to avoid arrest. However, police officers eventually cornered and arrested him in Barangay Pasong Tamo.

Aside from recovering the stolen motorcycle, authorities also confiscated a firearm loaded with ammunition from the suspect. The discovery resulted in additional charges being prepared against him.

The suspect is now facing several cases, including carnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the Anti-Fencing Law, which covers the illegal sale and distribution of stolen property.

Police investigators also revealed that the suspect is believed to be a member of a group allegedly involved in motorcycle theft operations in Rizal and Quezon City.
