Teacher’s Home Visit Reveals Student Caring for Mother Battling Stage 4 Cancer
A student being visited by a teacher due to absences was found caring for his mother with stage 4 cancer in Libacao, Aklan.
Recently, Rex Sison Rebuelta, a Facebook user, shared his visit to a student who had been caring for his mother who is battling Stage 4 cancer. The post garnered various reactions from the online community
Rebuelta became concerned about a Grade 6 pupil who had been absent from school for nearly two weeks. Wanting to understand the reason behind the repeated absences, he visited the student’s home in Poblacion, Libacao.
Rex discovered a heartbreaking reality. Instead of attending classes, the young student had been staying at home to take care of his mother, Joan Apolinario Tabon, who is battling Stage 4 cancer.
The teacher personally witnessed the difficult situation faced by the family. Joan was bedridden due to her illness, while her child had taken on the responsibility of caring for her.
Joan is a single parent who is currently fighting the advanced stage of cancer. According to reports, she recently underwent medical treatment and spent about a month in a hospital in Iloilo. The treatment placed a heavy financial burden on the family.
The student had to divide his time between household responsibilities and his education, because of the situation.
The teacher and relatives are appealing to the public for prayers and financial assistance. They hope that kind-hearted individuals can help ease the burden faced by the mother and her child.

“‘di ko po inaakalang ang simpling HOME VISITATION ko sa isang pupil na halos 2 weeks nang hindi pumapasok ay ganito ang aking madatnan. Siya pala ang nag aalaga sa kanyang inang may stage 4 na cancer. Nakakahabag pong tingnan na nakaratay sa karamdaman ang isang ina habang inaalagaan ng kanyang grade 6 na anak, na dapat ay nasa paaralan at nag-aaral.
Siya po si JOAN APOLINARIO TABON ng Pob., Libacao, Aklan. Halos isang buwan din syang nakaratay sa Hosp sa Iloilo para sa kanyang medication at hirap na ang kanyang pamilya sa kanyang pang araw araw na gastusin.
Kaya on behalf sa kanyang pamilya, ako po bilang guro at adviser ng kanyang anak ay umaapila po sa may mga ginintu-ang puso na kong maaari ay tulungan po natin siyang manalangin na gumaling para sa kanyang mga anak dahil isa po siyang single parent
