Vice Ganda Old Video “Body-shaming” Bea Alonzo Resurfaces, Netizens React

Netizens talked about this episode of GGV hosted by Vice Ganda

The old video of Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda, apparently “body-shaming” Kapuso A-list actress Bea Alonzo, resurfaced, and this received various comments from netizens.

Vice used to host a late-night talk show titled Gandang Gabi Vice or GGV. It premiered in 2011 and lasted until 2020. During this span of time, he featured prominent guests in the world of entertainment and politics. There were several episodes that went viral and controversial.

Just recently, netizens on Reddit recalled one particular episode. This came after Vice became a trending topic because of his recent controversial joke on It’s Showtime’s Laro Laro Pick segment.

Netizens criticized Vice Ganda for spitting water on Baby Dolls member Johaira, and allegedly, he had a racist/colorist comment when he said “nagputik” since the girl-group member has a darker skin tone.

The online community also criticized Vice’s “lugaw” joke with his partner and co-host Ion Perez. Because of the complaints, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) released a statement summoning the producers of the Kapamilya noontime show, which is also being shown on GMA Network, to respond to complaints regarding the supposed “inappropriate” jokes.

Amid the issue, netizens recalled the time when Vice Ganda “body-shamed” Bea Alonzo, but the actress clapped back.

A netizen on Reddit shared under ChikaPH a clip showing an episode in which Vice was interviewing Bea. The comedian mentioned that the actress was “mataba” before, and she obviously lost weight because she was able to wear a sleeveless during that GGV guesting.

Bea laughingly said that she would just walk out. “Ang payat mo ngayon promise ha, kesa dati ang taba mo talaga,” Vice said. The actress answered with an “ouch, nakakainis” but she was still smiling.

Then, Bea clapped back, “Pero aminin mo dati, maganda na ako, ikaw?” It can be heard that the studio audience laughed. Bea said, “sorry” while laughing.

“I commend Bea here, it’s really not funny to body shame especially sa babae tapos on national TV pa. It’s very personal and should not be joked about. I think Bea is the kind of artista na hindi mo basta2x ma babalahura especially back in the day na this kind of humor was normalized so much. Good for her,” the uploader of the video stated.
