Anne Curtis objectified by a public servant?
Quezon City 4th district Rep. Jesus “Bong” Suntay made this offensive and malicious remark about ABS-CBN actress Anne Curtis.
One of the well-loved and talented actresses of the local entertainment industry is Anne Curtis. Apart from this, she is also being considered among those with the most beautiful faces.

Among those who admire her is Quezon City 4th district Rep. Jesus “Bong” Suntay. However, his admiration for the actress put into words did not sit well with those who heard him. His remarks eventually went viral and angered the supporters of the actress.
Suntay made the remarks during the House Committee on Justice hearing on the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, March 3.
He was defending the vice president. He spoke about the alleged sedition, which is included in one of the impeachment complaints against Duterte, and argued that Duterte’s presence at a prayer rally in 2024 should not be considered seditious.
He stressed that a person cannot be blamed for statements made by others just because they were present at an event.
To further justify his stance, he cited an example, a personal one, that involved the ABS-CBN actress. He said that there was one time when he saw Curtis at Shangri-La and commented that she was very beautiful. He accordingly felt a strong desire and imagined certain things but said it stayed only in his imagination. He then argued that a person should not be charged for something they only imagined.
“Lastly, alam niyo minsan, nasa Shangri-La ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis, ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na, nag-init talaga, na-imagine ko na lang kung ano’ng pwedeng mangyari. Pero syempre hanggang imagination na lang ‘yon. Pero ‘di naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan kung ano ang na-imagine ko eh,” Suntay said.
His remarks immediately drew reactions from members of the committee.
San Juan City lone district Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora, vice chairperson of the panel, moved to have Suntay’s comments removed from the official record, pointing out that such statements should not be heard from colleagues in the House, especially now at the start of Women’s Month.
They were not trying to censure him but to remind the members to support women by avoiding such statements. Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. supported Zamora’s motion and asked that the remarks be deleted.
