JASMINE CURTIS – The Kapuso artist Jasmine Curtis-Smith lashed out and expressed sentiments when some cinemas rejected block screenings for her film “Maledicto”.
In a previous article, the award-winning filmmaker Erik Matti expressed his side about how the local movie industry need “resuscitation”. He stated, “The state of our film industry, the business of it, is in a dire situation. Someone should do something about it. Government should intervene. This is not a slow death anymore. We are on life support and we need resuscitation. No more pointing fingers. I think we’re beyond that at this point. This is a plea for help.”
And now, by the looks of it, Jasmine Curtis seemingly having a hard time promoting her film “Maledicto”. It hit the theaters already but was sad to share that the block screenings she wanted to administer was not granted by some local cinemas.
Through a post on Instagram, she expressed, “I just wanted to let you know that this is the state of support we receive from our cinema houses. We totally understand the difficulty of going up against an international franchise frazzles me that they choose NOT to screen local films anymore?! Even for fully paid block screenings. Ang hirap magkaroon ng chance.”
Here are some reactions of the netizens to this based on an entertainment website:
They should have moved the screening after May 13 elections. Avengers: Endgame will stay pa siguro for the rest of the month. Sayang lang ang effort nila sa movie. It looks good pa naman sa trailer. Fox Philippines.
They don’t screen local films anymore?!? Anong malls mga yon? Grabe naman.
Sana nag request ka na wag itapat sa pader.. Mga sikat na artist iniiwasan yan ikaw sinugapa.
What can you say about this?
