Duterte Administration Turns Philippines Into A Reformed Country

The Philippines has progressed under the leadership of Pres. Duterte.

DUTERTE – Lots of changes have happened in the Philippines since President Rodrigo Duterte took the highest position in the country.

The victory of the former mayor of Davao City in the presidential race during the 2016 national election is indeed one of the events that have left a mark in the history of the Philippines.

Pres. Duterte secured the highest post in the country through a landslide victory. He ran against other prominent candidates for the presidency – the late former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, former Interior Sec. Mar Roxas, Sen. Grace Poe, and former Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay.

Though the current President of the country was already 71 years old when he ran for the presidency, a big part of the populace has really looked up to the promises of Pres. Duterte. He has been expected to bring ‘change’ to the Philippines.

Right after he secured the post, the 71-year-old chief executive started with his duties and his promise to clean the country from illegal drugs, crimes, and corruption.

Since the start of the election campaign, his madness towards illegal drugs has already been visible. In the previous months, the President never failed to warn drug users and pushers on their activities.

In fact, many drug-involved personalities have already surrendered to the authorities. Despite the thick pile of papers containing the names of people who are suspected to be involved in illegal drug trade, the President assured that there is no stepping back.

Aside from the eradicating drugs and corruption, Pres. Duterte has also promised a change in the economy according to a recent report in Newsgearph. The change in the economy is set to minimize the presence of poverty and hunger in the country.

The report also entailed an update on the progress of the Philippines under the Duterte Administration.

According to the news, the recently released report of the Philippine Statistics Authority entailed about the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. From 7.0 percent during the second quarter of 2016, in the third quarter, it is now 7.1 percent.

Trade, manufacturing, and other business activities drove the growth of the country’s economy as to the report.

The PSA also noted that the per capita GNI and per capita GDP grew by 4.6 percent and 5.3 percent respectively.

“We are the fastest-growing among major Asian emerging economies that have already released data for the quarter. We are higher than China’s 6.7 percent, Vietnam’s 6.4 percent, Indonesia’s 5.0 percent, and Malaysia’s 4.3 percent,” NEDA Undersecretary Rosemarie G. Edillon stressed in an interview.

She further emphasized that one of the priorities of the present administration is the agriculture and she stressed the signs of recovery in the field on the side of production or supply.
