Hidilyn Diaz and Carlos Yulo Exchange Inspirational Messages
HIDILYN DIAZ – Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Paris 2024 gold medalist Carlos Yulo exchange heartfelt messages after reunion in Paris.
Filipina Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz recently congratulated fellow history-maker Carlos Yulo in a touching social media post. In a post on her Facebook account last August 9, Hidilyn shared that she had an emotional moment in France with Caloy.
She celebrated Yulo’s remarkable double gold achievement in the Olympics. The Philippines’ golden champions reunited in Paris, where Yulo has been enjoying his time after his historic victories at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning gold in both the floor exercise and vault in men’s artistic gymnastics.
During their stroll in France, Diaz, the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo 2020, embraced Yulo, expressing deep pride in his accomplishments. Philippine Olympic Committee President Bambol Tolentino also joined them on this memorable occasion.
Reflecting on her own Olympic journey, Diaz shared her admiration for Yulo, recognizing the challenges he had overcome. “I’m so proud of you. Alam ko ‘yung pinagdadaanan niya. Nasa side lang ako pero alam ko. I’m so proud of you na na-overcome mo ‘yung lahat ng challenges,” Diaz told Yulo.
Yulo, in turn, shared how Diaz’s success in Tokyo 2020 had inspired him to strive for greatness. “Nag-backtrack po sakin yung Tokyo Olympics talaga,” Caloy recalled. “Nagkita kami nung gabi and then ayun yung time na nanalo siya ng gold medal. Pinakita niya sakin yung gold medal and sabi ko sa sarili ko, ako din next time.”
“Maiyak-iyak ako nung sinabi ko nun kasi grabe yung na-experience ko nung Tokyo. Sobrang overwhelmed ako and ‘di ko alam ano gagawin. Sobrang frustrated ako that time,” he added.
Now, having overcome those struggles, Yulo can proudly say that his efforts and sacrifices have paid off. “Ngayon, sobrang worth it lahat talaga ng pagod at paghihirap ko. Grabe yung naging insipiration and motivation ko mula kay ate Hidilyn. Palagi ko yun dala-dala,” said Yulo.
Diaz and Yulo have truly become symbols of hope and inspiration for the Philippines, demonstrating that with determination and perseverance, anything is achievable.
